Participate

Thank you for your interest in SEAS! Your participation can help us learn more about the transition from late adolescence to early adulthood.

Let’s dive in!

Step 1: Check that you may be eligible to participate

  • Are you 17 to 19 years old?
  • Are you in your last year of high school or GED program?
  • Are you free of metal in your body?

If you answered “yes” to all 3 questions, you may be eligible to participate!

If you are unsure about potential metal in your body, schedule a call and let us know! You are unable to enter the scanner if you have braces, but some medical implants (e.g. screws) may be acceptable with proper documentation.

Step 2: Check that you are interested in participating

SEAS is a 3-year study designed to gather a lot of information about what it means to transition to adulthood.

Over the 3 years, there will be 3 Annual Zoom Visits, 2 in-person MRIs, and 9 quick check-ins (3 per year). You will receive a virtual gift card after each visit and can earn up to $195 throughout your time in SEAS!

Parental Participation

SEAS is also looking to gather information from one of your parents to get a better understanding of your life! If you are 17, it will be required that your parent consent for you to join the study. If you are 18 or older, we will ask for your permission to contact your parent for study participation.

Parents will have short questionnaires to fill out once a year. Parents will also need to meet with a study team member to complete the consent process before participating.

Step 3: Complete the screening process

There are two ways to complete our screening process! Both gather the same information, just in different ways! Feel free to pick whichever option you are more comfortable with.

(1) Qualtrics Form

The first option involves completing our Qualtrics screening form.

If you are eligible, a study team member will reach out to you over text or email to schedule your first study visit!

(2) Phone Screen

The second option involves a brief phone screen with one of our team members!

This option is great if you have concerns about your potential eligibility, the study or if you just prefer to speak to a human!

And that’s it for now! Thank you so much for your interest and we look forward to meeting you. In the meantime, feel free to explore our website to answer FAQs, get to know the study team, and more.

If you have any questions, please reach out to our study email.
